Island View is a delightful 3-star self-catering bungalow in the beautiful area of Oughterard in County Galway.

The cottage has three attractively decorated cosy bedrooms and a bathroom with an electric shower. Bed linen is supplied free. It has a fully-equipped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, and washing machine. Relax in the comfortable sitting room while admiring the shores of Lough Boffin. After a great day touring, treat yourself to a glass of wine in front of a glorious open fire.

By Car
From Galway City, head West on N59. Drive through Moycullen Village and on to Oughterard. As you drive into Oughterard with the ESSO filling station on your left, drive approx 7 km, turn left at the sign for ‘Quiet Man Bridge’. At the bridge turn right, continue for 2 km. Island View is on your right.

Local Area

A big draw for this area is fishing.  With the lake only 50 metres from the cottage, this truly is an angler's paradise.
Oughterard is the nearest town to the cottage.  Here you will find a good selection of pubs, bars, and restaurants, as well as several craft shops and supermarkets. If you’re looking for peace and tranquility,  visit St. Brigid's Garden, only 12 km from the cottage. This is a beautiful historical park with its own coffee shop.

Each of the three bedrooms in this bungalow is newly decorated to a high standard, with bedside lockers and lamps to make you feel relaxed and at home. Two of the bedrooms are doubles, and the third has 2 single beds.
Bed linen and towels are provided.
The bathroom has a bath and electric shower. Electricity is extra. Oil-fired central heating is included in your rate.

We had a great time in the Island View Cottage! Mary, was so kind and put the heating on for us, before we arrived! And there was lots of solid fuel too to keep that big fireplace going! such lovely views from the cottage onto the lake! And yes, the house is basic, but it was very very clean and had everything we needed! Will hopefully come back and bring the kids to this lovely place!

Beautiful magical location. The house itself is modern and functional rather than a character property, but is spotlessly clean. The living room is tiny with no comfy sofa but the weather was so lovely we hardly needed it!
