Description
A popular feature is the 24-hour room service – you can have a delicious meal up to your room in minutes. Speaking of food, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dinner time when you are staying in the Glenlo Abbey. The Pullman Restaurant is actually a converted train dining carriage; there is also the River Room Restaurant which has large vaulted ceilings and no matter where you sit you can enjoy views over Lough Corrib. For a few pints you can head into the Kentfield Cocktail Lounge which overlooks the final holes of the golf course. Heading downstairs, you can relax in for the warm and characterful atmosphere of the Oak Cellar Bar which is perfect for a nice pint or perhaps some bar food.
The Glenlo Abbey Hotel has its own 9-hole golf course. There are a number of other golf courses within driving distance including Lahinch and Dromoland, located to the south in County Clare. While you're there you might take some time to explore the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher as well. If you drive north you can head to Clifden on the N59 and as you pass through Connemara you can also visit the Connemara National Park. From Galway City you can charter a boat to the Aran Islands where you can see the ancient Dun Aengus.
