I had forgotten about the Horse Sales this weekend so our usual B&B was booked. Ben View was an alternative budget priced guest house meeting the main criteria for this weekend being within walking distance of the pubs/music in town. This is a charming old world type accommodation, very welcoming with a large array of nick nacks which some might find give the place charm, others may consider dated? A matter of personal taste? We had room 3 on the first floor, a mid size room with a 5ft and 4ft bed an adequate shower room, kettle for brewing and an excellent hair-dryer. The latter could not be plugged in and used in front of the full length mirror but apparently made a change from the usual toy town dryers! We were in town for the music with friends so had a couple of hours shut eye before going out for the night. This was peaceful and the bed was very comfortable. Returning at 2am from our night out we carefully and quietly returned and went up to our room. Being quiet took a bit of skill as the doors are not the quietest closing items and could do with a thin strip of the draught proofing felt just to soften the noise. The thoughtfulness of some quests is never completely matched by all and just about 8.00 a herd of beast in hobnail boots started clattering in the room above. Breakfast was very good choice of Cornflakes or Muesli followed buy a full Irish (syrup pancake instead of pudding?) for me and Scrambled egg for Chris. Tea and coffee toast and bread. The only problem being the one hour 8.30-9.30 service time. (After a night out we prefer 9.30-10am) Overall a good friendly budget priced B&B in a very good location and apart from the inconsiderate behaviour of some other guests would have been an excellent stay. Room Tip: We had room 3 at the rear and would suggest avoiding this in favour of rooms 4&5 on the top floor.
