Built by Rev. Robert Taylor in 1738, this fine 18th century country-manor house is surrounded by 80ha of woodlands and gardens.

It overlooks the sea 30km north of Dublin city. Ardgillan houses the permanent exhibition of 17th century "Down Survey" maps of Ireland.

The garden contains a fine Victorian conservatory and rose garden. A unique 20 alcove fruit wall is one of the features of the Walled Garden which also includes sections for herbs, vegetables and Irish plants.

Further improvements are being assisted from the ERDF grant through the Great Gardens of Ireland Restoration Programme.

Opening Times:
1st Oct - 31st March: 11am to 5pm (closed on Mondays)
1 April - 31st Aug 11am to 6pm (closed on Mondays in  April and May)
July and Aug, open 7 days a week.

The demesne lies between N1 and R127 (Skerries - Balbriggan road).

By car: NI, Dublin - Belfast road to Balbriggan. Turn right at Balrothery onto minor road. Ardgillan main car park signposted.

By bus: Bus 33 from Eden Quay, Dublin, via Rush and Skerries. Bus passes under Ladies 'Stairs footbridge to the demesne, 3.5km north of Skerries.

By train: North bound (Drogheda - Dundalk) train from Connolly Station, Dublin to Balbriggan. Pleasant 4km walk from Balbriggan.

Parking: Ample coach and car parking space.
