Sea Cruises & Nature Trails – North Down Borough Council

Saturday 5th July
Sea Cruise
Bangor
Enjoy a short sea cruise taking in the splendid views of Belfast Lough and the North Down coastline but ensure to keep an eye out for the variety of bird life including native birds and seasonal migrants and perhaps even a seal or two playing in the waves along the way.

The cruise departs from Pickie Fun Park to Groomsport and Belfast Lough at 12noon. The Sea Cruise will last approx 1.5 to 2 hours aboard Rachlyn under the guidance of local skipper Brian Meharg. (Subject to favourable sea conditions).

Tickets: Adults - £10, Concession - £5 (under 16, over 65, full time students) and a Family Ticket - £25 (2ad + 2ch). Please note tickets must be booked in advance and are available through Bangor Tourist Information Office and North Down Museum.

Nature Trails
Bangor
This nature trail is both interactive and insightful around the grounds of Castle Park and offers a great experience. A guide from the Woodland Trust will share their knowledge with you: See the park come alive and re-discover the joys and secrets that nature holds. The walk will last approx 1 hour and cover around 2 miles of Castle Park. The Nature Trail will set off from North Down Museum at 2.30pm.

Tickets: Adults - £5, Concession - £4 (under 16, over 65, full time students) and a Family ticket - £15 (max 2ad + 2ch). Please note tickets must be booked in advance and are available through Bangor Tourist Information Office and North Down Museum. Each weekend from June through August between 2-4pm the traditional Cockle Row Cottages comes alive with fun for all the family. Relax and listen to live music, get close to nature with animal road shows or try your hand at craft making. This is just a taste of what’s on offer this summer.

Take your pick of entertainment on Sunday afternoons in Bangor this July. At Ward Park all musical tastes are catered for throughout the season, so why not bring a picnic and relax away the afternoon in the beautiful surroundings of the park. If music is not for you, then head for the seafront where madcap lively street theatre and attractions are on offer with something for all.

This 4th of July celebrate American Independence Day in Groomsport with Tracey and the Barroom Buddies, who open the event at 7pm. Hugo Duncan and is band will share his traditional Irish-Country tones with the audience and The Illegals, fronted by one of Ireland’s most outstanding vocalists Niamh Kavanagh, will recreate the musical mastery of the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and more. The evening will close with a terrific fireworks display at 11pm.

August Bank Holiday ‘Big Weekend’
Castle Park plays host once again to this year’s FREE summer concerts on the Bank Holiday weekend of the 23rd and 24th August. Curtis Stigers will perform on Saturday evening, 7-10pm. On Sunday afternoon, 3-5pm, the Frank and Ella Show will have you wrapped in jazz and swing from way back when. To complete the holiday weekend, on Monday there will be live street theatre for all the family at McKee Clock, Bangor Seafront, between 12-6pm.
