The service to the room was good but the room was small. The bar staff only seem to care about the clearing up of a earlier party and their locals.
Good value, friendly staff, good location as a base for touring the South. Just a shame that kids weren't allowed in the pool at an earlier time ... but I'm being picky there; we had a great break and enjoyed The Montenette.
The hotel is very pleasantly situated, with nice views of Cork. The breakfast room is very well-done up and the breakfast itself was excellent.Staff in general were efficient, but the only tiny point of issue was perhaps that with so many non-Irish staff the hotel can look and feel like anywhere, not especially Ireland/Cork.Also the non-Irish staff seemed to be working well, but it can SEEM as if they are inattentive when they all talk together in other languages.Overall staying in the Hotel was a positive experience.
Reception staff very helpful
Fantastic hotel - a little piece of luxury on the B&B circuit! Rooms were clean and modern and restaurant was wonderful - great for a glass of wine at the end of the night. Only thing missing was tea and coffee facilities in the room..but a superb hotel!
I had difficulty getting a response to my e-mails about booking a meal for 18 people, I even phoned to no avail. Eventually I sent a plea and once we had connected they were great giving us good choice of menus at a reasonable price. The food was very good and hot (not always possible for 18 sitting at once). Leisure facilities excellent too.
The bed was extremely comfortable, unfortunately the directions posted on their website were dreadful. We had to drive around following signs for the hotel which didn't take us there until we asked a local for directions.
Excellent hotel, but its access was extremely difficult, due to improper sign posting (normal road closed for works, then lack of alternative indications) Supper took an eternity (staff not very efficient, we think)
The room was lovely and the area beautiful. The only drawback was that the bartender was rude and the hotel was overrun by a large, rowdy wedding.
Great leisure facilities, it's a 10 minute walk to the town centre (and up hill back) so people should be aware of this when booking. We were in a group of 7 and staff weren't always pleased to accommodate us on a table together for breakfast, but did when we persisted. Staff at front desk very helpful in terms of knowing local area.
Hi there, It was a great dis-apppointment though the staff were very nice and friendly but the size of the room left me gobsmacked and I question the 4 stars its has. I also found it so strange that there was not even a piano player in the bar on the Saturday night and we had to take a taxi to The Clarion to find same, I was there with my sister in law and we are early fifties. Regards Anne
The hotel was a great boutique type hotel & if you had a car (as we did), it was nice to be out of the city itself. The room was comfy & the facilities such as the swimming pool, sauna was great after a day of doing touristy things! We also ate in the restaurant & the service & food was impeccable! Checking out was long, as the young man at the desk wasnt quite sure what to do, & was waiting for the person he was relieving to come back!! Also, didnt like the huge amt of pre-authorisation required (seemed they were worried we wouldnt pay!!)
STAFF VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. WOULD DEFINTELY BOOK MONTENOTTE HOTEL AGAIN ON MY NEXT TRIP TO CORK.
Some of the staff were very rude and serive was very poor especially in terms of ordering and receiving food
Great place to stay. We had a little trouble with the directions off the internet but were able to get a map in town and find it ourselves. We have some friends going over in September and we will definitely recommend this hotel. We LOVED the workout center!!!!
the taste of the water wasn't nice in the rooms. The lift didn't work, but in general it was a nice hotel.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
