Fota Island self catering houses are set in the exclusive 5 star resort of Sheraton Fota Island Hotel, the lodges are traditionally styled lodges with high pitched roofs and windows made from Nordic pine. The lodges are designed to blend into the surrounding landscape with its extensive trees, plants and the natural beauty of a place.
Guests can choose from two different types of accommodation, The Aviary and the Courseside setting both designed to make guests feel relaxed and at ease with the surroundings. Lodges are designed by leading architects Hogan and Associates with the interior finished done by renowned interior designer Jean Dougan.
Fota Island Lodges are located only 9 miles from Cork City Centre just off the N25.
Road: Take the N25 east from Cork City (towards Waterford/Rosslare) for 9 miles. Exit at Cobh/Carrigtwohill R624. Fota is 1000 yards on the right towards Cobh. Extensive car and coach parking available. Rail: Fota has its own train station on the Cork-Cobh line, with a hourly daily service from Cork City. Travel time from Dublin to Fota: 3 hours. Please note, the train station is a five minute taxi journey from the golf club. Ferry: A cross river ferry service is available for those travelling to Fota from the international ferry port at Ringaskiddy.Follow signage for Passage West or Cobh when leaving Ringaskiddy. Airport: The Jack Lynch tunnel provides direct access to the N25 from West Cork and the Airport without having to pass through Cork City.
The Aviary The Aviary Lodges are situated in woodland surrounding only a few minutes stroll from the Sheraton Fota Island Hotel. You can choose from terraced, semi-detached and detached layouts, all guarantee privacy and luxury.
Interiors are finished to a very high five star standard with a mixture of traditional and contemporary design. All Lodges have solid oak wooden flooring, oak panelled doors, every detail has been carefully and tastefully considered. Limestone rendered fireplaces provides the focal point of each living room. Entertainment features in the lodges incude adjustable surround sound system, LCD in each room and DVD unit in the living room, internet connectivity comes as standard.
Kitchens have stone countertops, under floor heating and top of the range AEG appliances. Underfloor heating in the bathrooms along with Italian designer sanitary ware with heated towel rails.
Drying rooms are provided in each lodge for golfing and outdoor activities, the larger houses have individual covered golf buggy porches with a charging connection.

Golf The par 71 championship golf course is woven around the stunning woodlands with strategically placed bunkers and undulating putting greens. There are no fewer than 3 championship courses in total, The Deerpark hosted the Irish open in 2001 and 2002 The Belvelly is a Par 72 stretching over 7121 yards and includes a new 9 hole layout developed by Jeff Howes. The Barryscourt is a Par 73 which also incorporates the new nine hole layout, expanding over 7362 yards. The Spike Bar at the clubhouse is perfect for a drink and light snack after a game, with views over the 18th hole of the Derrpark course.
