A garden for the Romantic; quiet and peaceful, of woodlands sloping down to a sea-estuary with interesting and varied wild life. Based on a number of woodland glades and a serpentine millpond amid a scene reminiscent of the background of a Douanier Rousseau painting by which it was inspired.

This has been the life work of Gwendoline and Peter Harold-Barry, who purchased Creagh in 1945, and now being continued in the form of "Creagh Gardens Trust". The walled garden, dating from Regency times, has been divided into an orchard with unusual varieties of domestic fowl, and a traditional kitchen garden. There are many wooded walks including the "Ho-Chi-Minh" and "Sir John's", and extensive new planting area.

The house was built in 1820 for the Becher family (Bechers Brook of the Grand National steeplechase) who were grantees of the vast estates of Fineen O'Driscoll. It is a garden to be enjoyed all year.
Situated: 6 km from Skibbereen on the Baltimore road.
