Avarest is a beautiful purpose built Bed and Breakfast which is located off the main dual carriageway between Ennis and Limerick. Just a 10 minutes drive from Shannon International Airport and only 5 minutes from Bunratty Castle & Folk Park.

At Avarest you are guaranteed a friendly welcome and fantastic accommodation. Excellence is clearly demonstrated in the décor of each room, which has been designed with only comfort and luxury in mind. The guest lounge has tea/coffee making facilities, a fridge and a computer for guest use. Free Wi-Fi internet access throughout.

Directions

Avarest is located at the Hurlers Cross, a residential area just at the edge of Shannon Town. To get there from Shannon Airport take the N19 to the R471 through Shannon and take the R471 at the roundabout. The Hurlers Cross is the first left at about 100 yards.

From the N18 (Limerick direction) take the R471 exit which is signposted for Shannon and Sixmilebridge. Take a left, the Hurlers Cross is the first right.

Avarest is on the outskirts of Shannon town which is convenient for shopping, gas, post office, pharmacy and cafes.  There is an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre in Shannon Town as well as an 18 hole golf course.

The local Catholic Church is a 8 minute walk from Avarest.

Bunratty Castle
Bunratty Castle in located just 3 miles from Avarest. The castle is home to the renowned medieval banquets, which are famous for fantastic food and nightly entertainment. Within the grounds of the castle you can step back in time and explore the folk park and the thatched cottages. Recent additions to the Folk Park include 2 Irish Wolfhounds and a miniature pony.

Durty Nellies is beside Bunratty Castle and a well established pub and restaurant.  The Creamery, Blarney Woolen Mills and Gallaghers Seafood Restaurant are all within walking distance of Bunratty Castle & Folk Park.

Lough Derg and River Shannon
Lough Derg is the biggest lake on the river Shannon with fantastic views along the East Clare Way.  Boats can be hired for cruises on the river and for the sports enthusiasts there is the Limerick University Activity Centre.

The Burren
The Burren is a large limestone region in north Clare and walking will enhance your appreciation of this unique landscape.  Explore Alliwee Caves near Ballyvaughan or visit the 5,000 year old  Poulnabrone Dolmen.

The Cliffs of Moher
One of Ireland's most-visited attractions, the Cliffs of Moher, are a spectacular sight. From the highest point, 230m above the sea, there are amazing views of the Aran Islands and Galway Bay.

Not only was the property beautiful and well-maintained, both inside and out, the location couldn't have been any more convenient and our hostess any more accommodating for our last night in Ireland. Avarest is less than a ten-minute drive to Shannon Airport, and close enough to enjoy the amenities in Bunratty without having to deal with the crowds and the noise.
