Huntington Castle, Clonegal, Carlow
Huntington Castle The oldest part of Huntington Castle is a tower house built by the first and last Lord Esmonde. The dining room was formerly the old hall of the castle. It's fireplace has the date 1625 inscribed on the chimmney piece which is believed to be the year the Castle was built. After the death of Lord Esmonde, it was inherited by Sir Lawrence Esmonde who converted the tower house into a residence. Sir John, his son, built a two storey wing.
