A modest gentleman farmer's residence with aspirations of grandeur. Originally a seventeenth-century house, it was enlarged with a hotch-potch of extensions at various times between 1780 and 1810.
Description
Standing in the heart of Armagh, the Orchard County of Ulster, Ardress is a gentleman farmers house with a character and charm all of its own. The present house was the creation of George Ensor, a Dublin architect who, following his marriage to Sarah Clarke in 1760, transformed the original modest house into a little mansion.

Surrounded by 100 acres of woodland, garden, orchards and farmland which were laid out in the early 19th century. There is also a farmyard with rare farm breeds, a playground and river walk. The house has been adapted for some limited wheelchair access and a sympathetic hearing scheme has been installed
