The first battalions of this elite force were volunteers from other American army units based in Northern Ireland. The troops came to Carrickfergus for their initial training and induction. This force still continues its job with the American Forces throughout the world.
Location
U.S. Rangers Centre is located in the grounds of the Andrew Jackson Centre, this new exhibition is dedicated to the G.I.'s who formed the first Ranger Units. The centre was officially opened by Ranger Robert Reed on 18 June 1994.

The exhibition developed from original materials donated by Rangers to mark the links between Ulster and America. This purpose built centre has been designed to show this fascinating collection of military history including, photographs, uniforms, documents and personal profiles of the original Rangers.
