I have marked value for money above based on the lobby only as that is as far as we got. We marked 9pm as our time of arrival but at that time we were still lost in Belfast (not far away as it turned out from the hotel). We tried to ring to let them know of our delay and get directions but as we had only been in the north since we passed Newry we didn't know we had the wrong phone prefix until the following day so we could not get through. We finally met a man out walking his dog who knew where the hotel was and gave us perfect directions, which got us there in minutes but by this time it was 9.30pm and when we got to the desk we were told they were over booked and had no room for us (I don't know if we had been there before 9pm if this would have been different)they had arranged a room for us at the Days Hotel in the City Centre and offered us a taxi there if needed. As it was late and we were only staying over night this was fine but had we been staying longer I would not have considered the Days Hotel to be up to the same standard as the Ramada even though I am aware the cost per night at the Days is more I feel this is only due to its City Centre location which mattered nothing to us hence our choice of the Ramada to begin with. If I had anything negative to say about the Ramada it would be about the direction once you get to belfast, that is where we went wrong. We were looking for A55/Stockmans Lane as per website directions and passed the exit for A55 thinking there was another with the Stockmans Lane on it just coming up next, there was not. We managed to correct this and did find Balmoral Avenue, also on website, but this was as far as we got as we could find none of the other roads. The first person we asked could not help us, but the man out walking his dog came next and sent us back a road we had already tried and from that along another to find the Ramada.
The hotel was very comfortable , staff were very good and very friendly - apart from one in the breakfast room who would only give us one teabag in the pot for two people - when i asked her for a second pot she told me that one should do for two people! Food was good in the suburbia bar but the menu was the same each night. Breakfast was excellent. There were students from 3 of the Irish university's' staying at the hotel for some sports event - most of them attended the breakfast room in their pyjamas which i thought was a bit much in a four star hotel - maybe something the hotel could look at - a simple sign may do the trick!
I have scored facilities low because I had a very early start and though I could have an early breakfast sent to my room, but this was not to be you could not obtain breakfast of anykind before 7:00 am. I have not scored any local amenities as i did not have any time to find out.
