A Round Tower on a point at the entrance to the seaport, looking exactly like one of Ireland's medieval monastic towers is 92 ft high and built of granite. It commemorates James Chaine MP 'father of the port' who (as the inscription says) linked Larne with the United States.

On the Curran point, where the Stone Age flint implements may still be found, stands the shell of Olderfleet Castle, a 13th century ruin.

The construction of the famous Antrim Coast Road is explained at Larne Interpretive Centre. Rural artefacts are exhibited at the Larne & District Centre.

A passenger ferry plies across Larne Lough to Islandmagee, where there are marvellous sandy bays, cliffs alive with seabirds, a massive dolmen in a cottage garden, a fine seashore golf course, and a first-class beach at Brown's Bay.

In a beautiful setting just north of Larne, Carnfunnock Country Park has a visitor centre, a 'time' garden, a maze and a 9-hole golf course, and is popular with caravanners and campers.
Description
An adventure playground has opened in the park's activity centre.
