Today's thriving Irish linen industry, a world leader in fashion and furnishings, has its roots in the 17th century province of Ulster. Now we have a unique opportunity to trace the history of this important industry in its heartland- in the Irish Linen Centre at Lisburn Museum

Description
You can try your hand at scutching or spinning or watch modern experts demonstrating their skills. Stop for a chat with the weavers in their workshop while they weave the centre's own fine linen cloth.
They'll always have a tale to tell after all they are the only hand loom linen weavers at work in Ireland today. Complete your visit by browsing in the speciality linen shop or relaxing in the restaurant.
Alongside the Irish Linen Centre is Lisburn Museum - which tells the Lagan Valley story in all its variety. It's well worth a visit.
Location
Located beside Lisburn's former market house, where brown linen was sold, the Irish Linen Centre lets you take a step back in time. Visit the spinner's cottage and then see the mill girls in Victorian times. Hear them talk about their good times-and their hardships. Four generations on, see the hi tech industry of today still producing the best linen in the world
