Dalways Bawn
Carrickfergus, Antrim
Three miles north-east of Carrickfergus, Dalway's bawn was originally a square, walled area with corner towers, a fine example of what the English planter built to protect his royal grant of land. The bawn was built by John Dalway around 1609, but only that part of it fronting on to the road is well preserved; behind its facade is a modern farm.
