Owenboliska River (Spiddal)
This river is about one and a half miles upstream from Spiddal Village. There is a small run of sea trout into this river from early June onwards and the best of the fishing is below the waterfalls where there are a few good holding pools. A few grilse also run this river from May onwards.
Upper Boliska River
The section of river from Boliska Lough upstream to Loughnagower in the townland of Derryherk holds some sea trout when there are flood conditions. The section between Boliska Lough and the first bridge upstream is very easy to fish from either bank, and access is easy as it is alongside the Shannagurran road. The best time for sea trout is in July and August.
Loughnagower
This small lough holds a good stock of small brown trout as well as holding some sea trout from early in June and onwards. An occasional salmon is caught in the lough. Access is at the end of the Derryherk road which leads from the Moycullen/Spiddal road at Loughwell crossroads.

Lough Ardderoo
This lough is just a few hundred yards upstream from Loughnagower. Access to the lough is over the Derryherk by-road from Loughwell crossroads, off the Moycullen/Spiddal road. The lough is alongside and near the end of this by-road. There is a good stock of brown trout in the lough and some of the fish weigh up to 3/4 lb. The trout run into the lough in July and August, and the occasional salmon is caught here also.
Lough Naweelan
This is a very good lough for brown trout up to one and a half pounds in weight. The fishing on the lough is good from April onwards. Access is by a pathway which leads through a forest off the Letter roadway near Letter Lodge. The Lodge is two miles off the Oughterard/Moycullen road.
Lough Fadda
Lough Fadda holds a good stock of brown trout to over one pound in weight and the fishing is good from April onwards. The lough is easy to fish from the west shore. Access is over the same route as that to Lough Naweelan, the two loughs being close to each other.

Lough Seecon
Lough Seecon holds a good stock of very small brown trout and a small number of sea trout run into the lough during late August when flood conditions permit. Fishng from the shores can be difficult because of the surrounding forest trees and bushes. Access to Lough Seecon is by the forest road which leads off the Moycullen/Oughterard road through the townland of Letter. This roadway runs alongside the west and north west shores of the lough.
Loughanillaunmore
This is a lough which holds brown trout and can easily be fished from the shore. The fishing is best from the month of April onwards to the end of the season. The lough can be reached by travelling to the end of the Shannagurran road, which is off the Spiddal/Moycullen road, about two miles from Spiddal.
Loughaunayella
This small lough holds brown trout to over 1 lb. The lough also has occasional sea trout from late in August. Access to the lough is by travelling the Letter road past Letter Lodge, and continuing on the same road to where it ends some two hundred yards from the stream between Loughaunayella and Bealanambrack Lough. A pathway leads the rest of the journey to the Lough. There are hatches of Olives and Sedges on this lough.
Lough Bealanambrack
This lough is very good for brown trout and fish to over 1 lb. can be caught on wetflies from April onwards. Access is by taking the same road as to Loughaunayella, the lough being situated just west of where the forest road ends.
Knockatee Lough
The lough is about 500 yards south east of the road which leads to Derryherk, off the Spiddal/Moycullen road at Loughwell Crossroads. Knockatee Lough holds small brown trout and is fished from the shore only.
Slieveaneena Lough
There is a stock of small brown trout in this lough and the shores are easy to fish from. The lough is easy to reach as the Derryherk road, off the Spiddal/Moycullen road at Loughwell Crossroads, runs alongside the lough.
There are several other small loughs on the system which hold small brown trout. Most of these loughs are un-named.
