The Owenglin River flows through the town of Clifden. There are very good runs of both salmon and sea trout into this river from the month of July onwards to the end of the season. The Clifden/Galway road crosses the river a couple of miles from Clifden and access to the river is generally easy.
Bye Law No. 371: Prohibits catching or attempting to catch any kind of fish in that part of the Owenglin or Clifden River between the bridges known respectively as the Ardbear New Bridge and the Ardbear Old Bridge, in the townlands of Clifden and Ardbear, on or after the 15th May in any year. |
