The Dawros Fishery, sometimes called the Kylemore Fishery is alongside the Leenane/Letterfrack road about twelve miles west from Leenane. The fishery is comprised of the Dawros River, Bunnaboghee Lough, Pollacapul Lough and Kylemore Lough. From late May/early June the salmon usually start to run into this fishery with the sea trout beginning to run it from June onwards through the season.

Dawros River
The sea pool at Derrinver (Dawros) Bridge is owned by Mr. S. McCormick and let by Renvyle House Hotel. This pool is excellent or grilse and sea trout fishing. The fishing on the Dawros River itself is owned by Kylemore Abbey (and is let by Mrs. Aspell). The river offers both salmon and sea trout fishing with the best angling stretch being in the vicinity of Tullywee Bridge.

Pollacapul Lough (Castle Lough), Middle Lough and Kylemore Lough
The fishing on these three loughs is jointly owned by Kylemore house and Kylemore Abbey. There is a run of spring salmon into the three loughs and in June and July there is a very good run of grilse and sea trout. Fly fishing is the only permitted method of fishing on this fishery. Kylemore Abbey maintain four boats for hire on these waters and Kylemore house have five boats for hire. There are several small un-named loughs in this system all of them holding stocks of small brown trout. Enquiries should be made to the persons named above as regards permits to fish these waters.
