Set in the heart of Connemara, Clifden has been established as a sea angling centre for some twenty years.

The range of sea fishing on offer varies from shore fishing for ray from a number of sheltered deep water locations, to offshore boat fishing over reefs around many of the islands for pollack and cod. Shark fishing too has always been popular in the summer months.

The area boasts a well-equipped charter fleet and experienced skippers and in recent years, has attracted increasingly large numbers of Continental visitors.

The season for both boat and shore angling extends from May to September, but good boat fishing can be experienced into November, weather permitting.
