Car parks in Belfast city

Parking in any strange city can be a bit of a nightmare, so here's a guide to Belfast's main car parks if you're thinking of taking the car. Belfast city is pretty compact so there's really no need to drive from attraction to attraction. Just park up the car in one of the following car parks

Probably the most central car park in Belfast city is Smithfield car park. It's located right in the heart of Belfast city centre just steps from Castle Court Shopping Centre. Entry to this car park is via Winetavern Street and Samuel Street. This car park has 109 spaces and you can park here by paying at a kiosk.

The next best car park if you're looking for somewhere central is King Street car park. As the name suggest, it can be found off King Street in the city centre, just about a 5 minute walk from Castle Court Shopping Centre. It a small car park, with just 38 spaces and entry is via King Street. Pay at the kiosk.

Hope Street can park is located right next to Victoria Street Station and Europa Bus Station. It's about a 10 minute walk from Donegall Square so it's very central. It's also close to the Opera House and Great Victoria Street. The car park has just 41 spaces and entry is via Hope Street.

Talbot Street car park is located north of the city centre just off the Dunbar Link, about a 15 minute walk from the city centre. The car park is in close proximity to the University of Ulster, the Albert Clock and St.Anne's Cathedral. It has 179 spaces and you pay at a kiosk. The entrance can be found on Exchange Street.

The Eastside car park is located across the River Lagan not too far from the Odyssey Centre and the Titanic Quarter. The car park has 210 spaces and payment is at a kiosk. One of the best things about parking here is that you can avail of the park & ride service to the city centre. This is perfect choice if you want to avoid driving in the busy city centre.

These are just some of the main car parks in the city centre which are run by the Roads Service. Much of the city centre is a pay & display ticket zone so if you do find street parking make sure you put up a ticket on the car.

There are also lots of multi-storey car parks in the city centre. Probably the biggest is the one at Castlecourt Shopping Centre. It's operated by the shopping centre and has 1600 spaces so it's ideal if you're going shopping.

Another central multi storey car park is Hi-Park Centre Multi Storey car park which has 575 spaces. It's located just off High Street in the city centre and is central to Laganside Bus Centre, the Albert Clock, Castle Court Shopping Centre and Donegall Square.

The Great Northern Multi Storey car park has 530 spaces and is beside Victoria Station and the Europa Bus Centre. It's also just around the corner from Great Victoria Street where you'll find some of the best pubs and restaurants in the city.

These are just some of the car-parking options for you when in Belfast city.

Hi Gill

That would probably be Smithfield Car Park, it's located close to the Castlecourt Shopping Centre in the heart of the city.

King Street car park is also a good choice too.

Hope this helps

Hi - I am travelling up to Belfast on Saturday about midday & am looking for somewhere that I can park my car in the City for the day & Saturday night, plan to leave Belfast about midday on Sunday.  Do you know somewhere that I could park the car for this period that would not be too expensive?

Thanks.

I am going to Belfast for a weekend in December. The hotel located in Great Victoria Street wants £17 per night for overnight parking. It seems a lot! Is there an alternative less expensive car park near by? Thanks

Good Morning Nicky,

The nearest car park to the Europa Bus Station is Hope Street Car Park. I'm not sure of the prices etc, but it's right beside the station.
