Dublin Hotels near St Stephens Green, Grafton Street and Baggot Street

If you’re planning a trip to Ireland’s capital, then you’ll want a Dublin hotel in the thick of the action. Dublin hotels come aplenty in the St Stephen’s Green/Grafton Street/Baggot Street area, just south of the River Liffey, and it’s a great base to immerse yourself in the vibrant buzz that is Dublin city centre.

St Stephen’s Green is a 22 acre inner city public park right in the heart of Dublin. If you want some privacy and wish to escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre, you’ve got it here. You’re surrounded by trees, flowerbeds, a lake and a fountain and it’s the perfect spot for a picnic. And if you’re in Dublin during the summertime you might catch one of the free daytime concerts.

St Stephen’s Green joins the top of Grafton Street, Dublin’s most fashionable and pedestrianised shopping street. Named after the Duke of Grafton it stretches from College Green (part of Trinity College) to St Stephen’s Green. Right on the corner you’ll find the St. Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre. You can start you’re spending spree here and everything you’re looking for in the fashion world, as well as cafes and restaurants, is located under one amazing glass roof.

If you continue down along Grafton Street you’ll find exclusive jewellers, high street stores and designer boutiques. It’s also where you’ll see the statue of Molly Malone – she’s still ‘wheeling her wheelbarrow’. You could stop for a quick cuppa in Bewleys Café, which has kind of become a landmark on Grafton Street – it’s Dublin’s oldest café and it’s still going strong.

Grafton Street is also Dublin’s big busking street and it’s where a number of famous faces started out. The atmosphere is always fantastic here. It’s also home to some of Dublin’s liveliest nocturnal hotspots. So you can’t go wrong with a Dublin hotel here.

An excellent choice is the 5 star Westbury Hotel, just off Grafton Street, while the deluxe O’Callaghan Stephen’s Green Hotel is located on St. Stephen’s Green. You’ll find the 3 star Longfields Hotel on Fitzwilliam Street Lower and the 4 star Brooks Hotel on Drury Street.

Other Dublin hotels in the St Stephen’s Green/Grafton Street area include the Mercer Hotel, located just off St. Stephen’s Green and the 3 star Grafton Capital Hotel on Stephens Street Lower, while another good Dublin hotel to rest your head for the night is the Central Hotel on Exchecquer Street.

You can also choose a Dublin hotel on Baggot Street which is an established business district as well as being lined with gourmet restaurants and fashionable bars. St. Stephen’s Green leads onto Lower Baggot Street, then Upper Baggot Street and onto Pembroke Road in Ballsbridge.Mespil Hotel, Dublin

As it’s quite a long street Baggot Street is divided in two (Lower & Upper) by the Grand Canal. Just take a look around you when walking along this street you’ll notice the difference in architecture. Lower Baggot Street has mainly Georgian Buildings while Upper Baggot Street is influenced by Victorian architecture. A really good 3 star Dublin hotel near Baggot Street is the Mespil Hotel on Mespil Road.

So whether you’re in Dublin’s fair city for its excellent shopping, the attractions or indeed the booze, the buzz and the craic, you’ll find plenty of Dublin hotels to suit your needs.
